Every parent wants the best for their child. Choosing the right secondary school is one of the most important decisions a family can make – it shapes not only academic outcomes but also character, friendships, and future opportunities. At Charterhouse Lagos, we understand this responsibility. That is why we have spent years building a school that combines the very best of British academic tradition with the rich cultural values that define Nigerian families.
We are proud to be the first British independent school in Nigeria. This is more than just a title; it reflects our commitment to delivering an education that meets the highest international standards while remaining deeply connected to the community we serve.
British Academic Excellence with 400 Years of Heritage
Charterhouse School in the UK is one of the most respected and historic independent schools in the world, with over four hundred years of educational excellence. At Charterhouse Lagos, we bring those same traditions of high standards, academic rigour, and innovation to Nigeria.
Our purpose-built campus has been intentionally designed to inspire learning at every level. From state-of-the-art science and STEM laboratories to art studios, sports facilities, and a 25-metre swimming pool, every detail has been carefully considered. Small class sizes, exceptional teachers, and a curriculum rooted in the British system ensure that students develop not only strong academic foundations but also the confidence, creativity, and resilience needed to succeed.
This academic journey continues seamlessly into the future, as we prepare to open Year 10 (IGCSE) and Year 12 (A Level) in September 2026 – giving our students direct access to the world’s leading universities.
Nigerian Values at the Heart of Our School
While our heritage is British, our heart is Nigerian. We understand the importance of tradition, respect for family, and a sense of belonging. Our school culture reflects the values that matter to Nigerian parents – Excellence, Respect, Integrity, Courtesy, Service, and Wellbeing.
The boarding experience has been designed with the needs of modern Nigerian families in mind. Students will live in beautifully furnished rooms of two to four, with spaces to relax, read, and socialise, supported by a dedicated pastoral team. For day students, the sense of community is equally strong – every child is known, valued, and encouraged to flourish.
Our approach ensures that students leave Charterhouse Lagos not only with outstanding academic results but also as grounded individuals ready to lead and contribute positively to society.
