Head / Director of Education
John Todd
I am excited to lead the first British independent school in West Africa.
John is a seasoned educational leader whose career has spanned continents and cultures, bringing rich international experience to his role as Director of Education at Charterhouse Lagos.
Born and educated in the UK, John studied Natural Sciences at University College, Durham, before earning a Master’s in Education from the UK’s Open University, a Master’s in Organisational Leadership, and an MBA from the United States. Beginning his career as a primary school teacher in the UK, he quickly discovered a passion for nurturing global learning communities, leading him to international education.
John has been part of the Charterhouse Lagos project since its inception, playing a key role in planning, building, procurement, and staff recruitment. His involvement has ensured that the school’s foundation reflects the highest standards of excellence and aligns with its vision for outstanding education.
John’s contributions to education have been recognised through his Fellowship with the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (FRSA) and the Chartered College of Teaching (FCCT), demonstrating his commitment to innovation and best practice in education.
At Charterhouse Lagos, John brings his extensive leadership experience, strategic vision, and dedication to fostering an exceptional learning environment that empowers students to thrive in an ever-changing world.
Chief Operating Officer
Angela Hencher
My role is to lead the teams that support our teachers, enabling them to offer our students a world class education.
Angela has served as a Business Director / Bursar in schools for over 20 years, and has a wide range of independent school leadership experience, including both day and boarding schools, predominantly in the UK but also in the Middle East and China. She has experience of leading school start-ups, mergers and transformations, and is a true advocate of excellence in every aspect of education.
As part of a small team researching, setting up and opening Kent College, Dubai, she was fully involved in the new school, from recruitment of the Head through to the selection of the uniform supplier.
UK born and educated, Angela holds an MBA and spent the first 15 years of her career in banking before moving into Education, after having her 2 daughters. During her time in schools, Angela was a UK ISI compliance inspector, sat on the UK Independent School International Student Advisory Board, was a mentor for new bursars, and chaired the Shanghai International School Business Directors’ Group.
Angela’s experience gives her a firm grasp and enjoyment of international education, and she is thoroughly enjoying being involved in this exciting new project.
Director of Teacher Training and Professional Development
Victoria Foster
Developing the skills of our teachers has a direct impact on the quality of learning in classrooms.
Victoria has been an international educator for over 20 years. Born and educated in the UK, she attended Wymondham College as a boarder from the age of 11 to 18 before completing a BA in Primary Education with Art and Design at the University of Southampton (King Alfred’s College) in the United Kingdom.
Victoria began her international teaching career in 2001 at the Alice Smith School in Malaysia. She took on her first leadership role in 2005 at Colegio Gran Bretaña, Colombia and has been a senior leader in three other leading schools in Thailand, Panama and, most recently, Shanghai, China.
Victoria was the Head of Junior School at Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong for nine years and held the role of Whole College Professional Learning Lead. In addition to this, Victoria is a certified Child Protection Officer and Council of International School Accreditation Chair. She has also served as the Chair of the Education Committee for the British Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. Victoria is currently worked on her MA Teaching & Learning and is a certified Assessment and Research Lead.

Robin Davies
This role presents a thrilling opportunity to build a world-leading Primary School as part of an ambitious school development programme in Nigeria and West Africa.
Mr Robin Davies was educated in the UK and started his teaching career in independent preparatory schools in England. He holds an MBA in Educational Leadership (International), and has experience overseeing 11 schools as part of a worldwide school group. Until recently, he led the Prep School in Grand Cayman. He is passionate in the pursuit of the best educational provision to prepare our young people for the challenges of the 21st century.
Head of Secondary
Mark Healy
I am proud to be the founding Head of Secondary at Charterhouse Lagos, having previously served as Cluster Secondary Head across three campuses of a leading British school in Doha.
With 34 years of teaching experience across four continents, my career has been filled with deeply rewarding and fulfilling experiences. I have held senior leadership roles in leading international schools in the UAE, Hong Kong and Romania.
I hold a BEd Honours degree from the University of Edinburgh, a PGDE / M.Phil (with Distinction) from the University of Glasgow, and the COBIS (Council of British International Schools) Headship Qualification.
Governance
The Board of Charterhouse Lagos has ultimate responsibility for the success of the school. In carrying out this governance role, it has the following specific responsibilities:
- Set the strategic direction of the organization and the school
- Appoint the Head of the School
- Approve the annual budget
- Approving capital expenditure
- Ensuring the financial stability of the school
- Reviewing and maintaining the legal requirements for the school set by local or national government
- Evaluate the performance of the Head on an annual basis
- Evaluate the performance of the Board on an annual basis

Board Meetings
Board Meetings will be held at least four times a year and the agenda will contain:
- Minutes of previous meeting
- Safeguarding Report
- Health and safety Report
- Head of School Report
- Finance Report
- Resolutions for discussion and ratification
Advisory Board
The primary function of the Advisory Board (AB) is to act as an advisory body that will have an overview of the activities of the School, will provide challenge and support in direct proportion to success, and will make recommendations to the Board of Charterhouse Lagos and the Senior Leadership Team of the school via the Head.
- The Advisory Board advises on matters concerning the School’s strategic educational philosophy and educational planning with a view to safeguarding and promoting the reputation of the School and to ensure that it operates within the ethos of a Charterhouse School.
- The Advisory Board meets at least termly (three times per year) with additional Extraordinary Meetings scheduled according to need.
- The Advisory Board receives and responds to the analysis of survey results, and inspection or accreditation reports, and provides market, parent and student feedback on the School’s performance. The Head should also provide the Advisory Board with a comprehensive report filed under agreed headings at each of its Regular Meetings.
- With the Head, the Advisory Board or representative members of the Advisory Board should meet with representatives of Charterhouse International Limited to discuss the nature and process of any school visits and to receive recommendations arising from such visits.
- The Chair of the Advisory Board and the Head may bring any issue to the Advisory Board within the scope of the remit of the Advisory Board.
- The Advisory Board shall keep minutes, confirmed by the Chair as a true and accurate record of its meetings.
- The Advisory Board will carry out self-evaluation of its practices on an annual basis (manner to be determined).
- The structure and purpose of the Advisory Board will be reviewed on an annual basis to ensure fitness for purpose as the School grows and develops. Such reviews will be led by the Advisory Board Chair and the Director of Education and any recommendations will be forwarded to the Charterhouse Lagos Board, and to Charterhouse International Limited, for review and potential action or implementation. This Advisory Board Policy, and the structure and purpose of the Advisory Board Policy, may not be changed without the written consent of Charterhouse International Limited and Huntington Education Limited.

The Board of Charterhouse Lagos consists of:
- All financial matters are overseen by the Board of Charterhouse Lagos.
- The Advisory Board does not function as a decision-making body, however it is eligible to make recommendations to the Board of Charterhouse Lagos and the Head.
- The Advisory Board does not deal with day-to-day operational issues unless specifically requested to do so by the Board of Charterhouse Lagos.
- The Advisory Board is not a channel to express a member’s own, another parent / community or staff member’s individual grievances or concerns.

Advisory Board Chair
Pam Mundy
I am determined to support the school to become a world-leader in education!
A highly experienced, innovative K -12 education professional (including teaching and school leadership across the world) for over 38 years, Pam is an internationally renowned author and keynote speaker with global recognition for her specialism in Early Childhood Learning and Development, international education and school design and start up, particularly in Saudi Arabia, SE Asia, the UAE, Latin and Central America, China, Japan, West Africa and the USA. She has operated at both strategic and executive level for a wide range of international school groups, businesses, and educational organisations. Pam has also operated as an innovative school design and consultant to many of the world’s leading school and education groups, on her specialist areas of early years through to G12, bi-lingual learning, international and intercultural learning, strategic leadership, and school improvement and development. Pam provides advice and guidance to new ‘start up’ schools, including brokering and securing investment, and key partnerships selecting partnerships for a wide variety of high net-worth education development projects. Pam is also currently Consultant Director of Schools and Education for NEOM Education, Research and Innovation, based in the new giga city of NEOM in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She is a Founding and Board Member for the ground-breaking international network, Businesswomen in Education.
