There’s a special kind of energy that fills a school in the first week of term — and this year, it’s even more powerful at our school, Charterhouse Lagos.

Over the summer, we’ve been hard at work. Not just preparing classrooms and polishing the floors, but completing the final stage of a vision that began several years ago: the launch of our Secondary School and Boarding House. Today, both are open, furnished, and filled with anticipation.

We’ve welcomed our new Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 students, our first boarders, and a community of families excited to begin their Charterhouse journey. We’ve also welcomed numerous new Primary School families — including our first Primary School boarders.

For those of us who have been part of this project from the ground up, it’s a moment of pride — and a reminder of what happens when excellence, integrity, and service are more than just words. They become action.

    A Summer of Purposeful Preparation

There is no shortcut to quality.

While many schools wind down in July and August, our site was alive with teams working day and night to complete the final phase of construction. Air-conditioned classrooms, well-equipped science and STEM labs, boarding accommodation, and world-class sporting facilities — all were handed over, inspected, furnished, and made ready.

But buildings alone don’t make a school. Our teaching staff returned early for planning, induction, and training. From safeguarding briefings to curriculum deep-dives, every session reflected our core value of respect — for students, for colleagues, and for the work we are entrusted to do.

There’s something deeply affirming about seeing professionals come together with a shared mission. Our staff didn’t just prepare rooms and resources. They prepared a culture.

A School That Lives Its Values

From the very first day of term, our students are immersed in an environment that values courtesy and wellbeing, not just academic achievement. We greet everyone. We hold each other to high standards. We believe that how we treat people matters just as much as what we learn.

In our Secondary School and Boarding House, we’re laying foundations — not just for this term, but for a lifetime of learning. We know that families choosing Charterhouse Lagos are looking for something more than convenience. They are looking for commitment.

We begin this year with gratitude — to the construction crews who worked tirelessly; to the staff who gave their time through July and August; and to the parents who placed their trust in us.

This is a school that has been built with intention. And now, we begin.

We invite you to come and see for yourself. Tours of our Primary and Secondary School — including boarding — are available now and throughout the term. Taster Days are also available, giving children the chance to experience a full day at Charterhouse Lagos. Assessments can be arranged at any time, either in school or online. Admissions are open, and we are still welcoming students into Years 1–9.
