Relief Driver

Role Overview: Part-time, on-site, 1 day a week (Sunday). We need a dependable relief driver to help the business with transportation-related tasks.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license – at least 5 years.
  • Proven experience as a Driver.
  • Minimum visual acuity of 20/50 (or corrected to 20/50).
  • Clean driving record.
  • Sound knowledge of road safety regulations.
  • Working knowledge of local roads and routes.
  • The ability to utilize maps, GPS systems, and car manuals.
  • Availability to work Sundays only.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour).
  • A minimum of school secondary school leaving certificate.
  • Must live locally.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely transporting staff as well as various products and materials to and from specified locations
    in a timely manner.
  • Assisting with the loading and offloading of staff luggage, products, and materials.
  • Adjusting travel routes to avoid traffic congestion or road construction.
  • Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trip.
  • Pick up staff from the place and at the time requested.
  • Promptly informing the company of any tickets issued against the company vehicle.

Professionalism:

  • You are to ensure you get enough rest to avoid falling asleep whilst driving.
  • The main responsibility of a driver is safety. Every passenger or vehicle occupant relies on the driver
    to get them to their destinations safely. Therefore, you are required to consistently be conscious of
    your environment and ensure that under no circumstance do you put your passenger in a possible
    dangerous situation.
  • A professional boundary must be maintained at all times with the passengers.
  • Driving is all about awareness, responsibility and defensiveness. Being a responsible driver, your
    focus should always be on the road. While accidents are caused by different reasons, many of them
    can be avoided by awareness and defensiveness.
  • You are not permitted to use your phone when driving, should your phone be on whilst driving, you
    need to ensure that is placed on vibration.
  • Self hygiene is very important, so you are to ensure you take extra care of your cleanliness and
    overall appearance must be professional at all times.
  • Never drive after drinking. Drinking alcohol inhibits your ability to drive safely.
