Charterhouse Lagos celebrates one year of delivering on its promise — a world-class British education, fully operational facilities, and a vision rooted in trust, excellence, and global ambition.
One year ago, Charterhouse Lagos opened its doors for the very first time.
We began with a vision: to bring British Independent School education to Nigeria — an education that blended academic rigour, local values, and global ambition. Last week, that vision was celebrated at a reception hosted by the British Deputy High Commissioner, Mr Jonny Baxter, at his official residence in Ikoyi.
We welcomed our Founding Parents, prospective families, diplomats, and supporters to mark this major milestone — the successful first year of our Primary School, and the official opening of our Secondary School and Boarding House.
It was a moment to celebrate. It was also a moment to reflect on what we have delivered — and where we are heading.
In education, trust matters. And trust is built not just on promises, but on proof. That’s why one of the most powerful messages we shared last week was simple:
Our Secondary School is ready.
Our Boarding House is ready.
The buildings are complete. Families have walked the classrooms, seen the labs and dormitories, met our staff, and experienced the atmosphere. These are not future plans or digital renders. This is reality — open, operational, and welcoming students from September 2025.
As I said during my speech at the event:
“We are building a learning environment that combines British rigour with Nigerian warmth, where children can grow in confidence, character, and global awareness.”
Mr Jonny Baxter, the British Deputy High Commissioner, delivered powerful remarks at the event. He reminded us that Charterhouse Lagos is more than just a new school — it’s a symbol of something bigger.
“By bringing world-class British education to one of Africa’s most dynamic cities, [Charterhouse Lagos] supports the aspirations of Nigerian families and reflects the UK’s commitment to long-term collaboration and growth in the region.”
It was a moment of pride — but also one of gratitude. We know we wouldn’t have reached this point without the support of so many:
Our Board and investors, who had the courage to build something new.
Our families, who trusted us from the start.
Our partners, including Lagos State, the British government, and Charterhouse UK.
And our staff, across all roles, who bring the school to life each and every day.
We’re proud to announce that we are now open for tours of both our Primary and Secondary School sites. These are fully completed facilities — including classrooms, science labs, STEM and art studios, a Sixth Form centre, boarding houses, and a world-class sports complex.
We are also proud to confirm that admissions are open throughout the summer, and that assessments can be arranged either in person or online at your convenience. We know that many families are planning for September 2025 — and we’re here to support you on every step of your journey.
Looking ahead, our Year 10 (IGCSE) and Year 12 (A Level) programmes will launch in September 2026. By that time, every part of our system will have been tried, tested, and refined — and students will enter an environment designed for their success.
So to all our friends, families and future students: thank you. We’re proud of what we’ve built — and we can’t wait to welcome you to Charterhouse Lagos.
