Junior Engineer

Role Overview: This role requires engineering expertise, project management skills, and a commitment to creating a safe and efficient educational environment. The Junior Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring that the school’s physical infrastructure supports a safe and effective learning environment. The candidate contributes to the school’s success by managing construction projects, maintaining facilities, and promoting sustainability and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare architectural and engineering designs for new construction or renovation projects.
  • Oversee the construction process, ensuring compliance with building codes and safety regulations, with strict adherence to quality control standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of school buildings, grounds, and utilities to identify maintenance and repair needs.
  • Implement maintenance schedules and plans to address identified issues and ensure high standards are maintained promptly.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety standards and regulations in all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors by addressing safety concerns and hazards.
  • Implement environmentally friendly practices and technologies to reduce the school’s carbon footprint.
  • Keep detailed records of infrastructure projects, maintenance activities, and safety inspections.
  • Implement emergency response plans related to infrastructure and facilities.
  • Collaborate with other school staff, teachers, and administrators to address infrastructure-related concerns that impact learning and teaching.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in civil engineering and educational infrastructure.

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Experience working in an educational or similar environment.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • The ability to understand, translate, and communicate complex building and building services drawings.
  • The ability to think both strategically and pragmatically with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • CAD design skills.
