Technician (Electrical & General Services)

Role Overview: Full-time, on-site. The focus of this role will be to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of our electrical system.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technician with proficiency in Electrical & General Services to join our facilities team at Charterhouse Lagos, a British Independent School. The successful candidate will be responsible for promptly addressing electrical repairs and power outages, prioritizing swift response times.

Responsibilities:

  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. This can include: wiring, switches, outlets, circuit breakers, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components.
  • Use of various tools and techniques to diagnose problems, such as testing equipment, voltage meters, and circuit analysers.
  • Work from technical diagrams, blueprints, and electrical plans. Interpretation of documents to understand the layout of electrical systems, identify circuitry, and plan installations or repairs accordingly.
  • Collaborate effectively with Facilities Management team to coordinate electrical work and ensure seamless integration with other systems.
  • Ensure all electrical work is performed in compliance with local, national, and industry regulations to maintain safety and prevent hazards.
  • Perform basic plumbing and electrical tasks such as repairing leaks, unclogging drains, replacing faucets, installing light fixtures, and troubleshooting electrical issues.
  • Capable of handling basic woodworking tasks, installing or repairing cabinets, shelves, doors, windows, moulding, or other wooden structures.

Qualification, skills and knowledge:

  • Minimum of Trade Test 1, 2, & 3 in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional certificate in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in electrical related works that demonstrates technical competence.
  • Knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations as it relates to electrical works.
  • knowledge of local and international regulations and standards for an electrical system.
