Technician (Power Generating Plant Operations & Maintenance)

Role Overview: Full-time, on-site. The focus of this role will be to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of our High Voltage Generators. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technician with proficiency in Generator operations & maintenance to join our facilities team at Charterhouse Lagos, a British Independent School.

The successful candidate will be responsible for promptly addressing repairs and maintenance tasks for our generators, with a strong emphasis on quick response times.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor generators to ensure a continuous and reliable power supply. This includes starting up and shutting down generators as needed, adjusting controls, and monitoring performance indicators.
  • Conducting routine preventive maintenance on generators to ensure their optimal performance and longevity. This involves inspecting and servicing components such as filters, belts, fluids, and lubricants, as well as performing regular cleaning and testing.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing issues that arise during operation, identify, and resolve problems related to engine performance, electrical systems, fuel supply, cooling systems, and control panels.
  • Maintaining an inventory of spare parts, consumables, and supplies necessary for generator operation and maintenance.
  • Assist the Facilities Team in achieving accurate documentation of repairs and equipment history.

Qualification, skills and knowledge:

  • Minimum of Trade Test 1, 2, & 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional certificate in Operation and Maintenance of high-voltage Generators.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in operation of high-voltage generators.
  • Health and safety awareness regarding Generator operation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of local and international regulations and standards for Generators.
